Hair canvas?!?! Really?!?!

I started a messenger bag today that I was very excited about, until I realized that I hadn’t bothered to read the back of the pattern when I got it. What the bleep is hair canvas? I can’t find it at JoAnn, and frankly the old ladies that work there seemed to think I was crazy. I know it exists, and I’ve found it online, but I’m not willing to pay the expense for something I haven’t felt the thickness and stiffness of. Also, when I get going I don’t like to be put on hold! I went with a fairly thick Pellon fusible instead, and it better work. I’m using a Parisville by Tula Pink fabric for the outside, and I’m not a fan of wasting designer fabric! I will let you know how it turns out.

Do you know where to find hair canvas or have experience with it? I would love to hear from you.
Also, if you know how to use buckram without it making your project look frumpy and wrinkly, help a girl out.

Happy sewing (or hunting for obscure materials),
