First Skirt: Part 2

I finished my skirt today. It would have been yesterday, but I had to make an emergency trip for elastic. I learned quite a few things putting this one together.

Pattern sizes do not make you feel good about yourself AT ALL. Luckily I sucked it up and made the size I truly needed.

When the pattern says to cut the elastic for your waist measurement and then add an inch, this is a lie. You will think the skirt fits great and then run to the hubs for praise and it will fall down on the way there.

Hemming curves is the devil.

Be careful cutting a yoke on the bias. It warps and is not fun during construction.

Altogether, this was a relatively quick and easy project. I could have finished in a day had I the mental capacity to concentrate that long.

Sorry no pictures, I have to take in the elastic for a better fit. Then maybe … If you haven’t noticed, I’m not currently a fan of pictures of myself.

Happy sewing,
